Now I’m reading Eating my way through Italy for a food trip. She is a great storyteller! A must to understand all the subtility of the Roman culture. Love it!

I too was disappointed when I received this book..However after about a week or two just flipping through it finally hit me how wonderful and amazing this book is..The recipes also caught my eye..The book is written with complete honesty and the restaurant reviews are personal and beautiful.Just give yourself the time and this guide will satisfy..Can't wait to get to Rome..

This book is a great book for those visiting Rome for the first time. Plus It's the perfect size to throw into your suitcase. It's a lovely very personal account of living in Rome. I think the recipes are easy to follow and give you a sense of how Romans eat, just like the title. It's a lovely addition to your Italian travel book collection. I loved the book. I found it charming and highly entertaining to read. I have already gifted it to friends who will be traveling to Rome for the first time in September.

Loved all the hints on how to enjoy the food mecca which is Rome, as well as offering some great recipes. Once I travel to Rome, I will better know if the recommendations for the great restaurants fulfills the promise.

Elizabeth Minchilli must have the richest and deepest connection to Roman food of anyone in the world. Her love and appreciation for her subject seem infinite. This book is a treasure house of information about prepared food of all kinds, as well as ingredients and where to get them and what can be done with them.. It's a terrific book to take with you to Rome, but just as useful back home. I was surprised to see that she has even included recipes and I'm going to try them. The artichoke recipes, which i was just reading, are inspiring. I have the book on my iPad and i think i'll get a printed copy as well. One reason for that is that Minchilli is a gifted photographer, and I want to see the photographs on the page.

I have been to Rome multiple times and it is nice to read about familiar things. The book has many anecdotes that I agree with and find entertaining. Many people go to Italy and some are disappointed by the food because all they know is Italian-American cuisine. This book serves as a good reference for people to know what to expect. With a little knowledge and understanding that things aren't the same as at home an individual could have a much more enjoyable trip. The author does a great job in story-telling.

Very fun and informative as to the past and present foods and culture of Rome. A,ways good to have first hand experiences conveyed by a skilled writer. Love Elizabeth’s blog, too.

Fascinating! Is interesting to see how much of the work she has done has become the basis of so many others work. I don't see that Delores receives as much credit as I think she should. Although I try to stay current with the literature and research in this field, I only just recently discovered Delores's work. I thought many other current researchers were onto something unique, only to find out that Delores had already made wide inroads starting in the 1990's. So glad I found her work as I enjoy the style and delivery of her writing, and prefer to read the original accounts of her client's sessions as opposed to those who have read her work, obviously, and have slipped it into their own philosophy. Is certainly nothing wrong with that, but now hold some of the more current researchers and philosophers in a bit less esteem in that they don't even mention her. Delores built a lot of the pillars in this field and hope to read all her works.

I have bought and read quite a few Dolores Cannon books. Subject matter is very similar to the Seth Material of Jane Roberts. Although, Ms. Cannon's work is far easier to understand. Digging deep in to the psych of her thousands of patients with a 90% helped rate; she has interviewed light beings, Aliens, subconcious levels, higher 'guardian angels' (my term, not hers). But the important information of this volume (can't wait to get the next two of Convoluted Universe) is that the Earth Changes that we will be experiencing... is cyclical NOT man-made "global warming'. When the Aliens come down with their large ships. Face it without fear... get ready to go on an adventure to the 'new Earth' that awaits us all. Bring your skills, your knowledge, your pioneer spirit. The hundreds of nuclear plants will be long dead and gone. Fukushima will be a bad nightmare that has ended. This will be a fresh start. E=MC2 The ships will take us a quick trip into the far future. A pristine Earth awaits us. Aliens WON'T help us beyond taking us to the New Earth.

I am deeply grateful to Dolores Cannon for writing these essential books in our spiritual evolution. None before of the dozens of "spiritual teachers" I had read in the last 4 decades has been as thorough, as contemporary in their approach of what resonates in me as the truth.It makes the necessary grudge of daily life seems a little more mundane, becoming more the illusion it just is.Now, armed with "The Convoluted Universe" series, my role is to understand the importance of every thought and deed in order to alleviate and pay back karma while still living this existence.The Golden Rule is all we have to concentrate on, and the positive. No need to swim in the morass of negativity the media entertains to generate fear in the populace. Once disconnected from their influence and the influence of peers and family wanting to keep the status quo, it becomes easier to exercise a modicum of control (our real choosing) over our present and future.I have yet to meet around me people who believe in reincarnation, and this is my biggest regret so far, to have no one to discuss Ms. Cannon's revolutionary concepts with. Patiently, I am awaiting for the veil to lift and the law of attraction to bring to me like minded people.3 days before the event of total solar eclipse/ New Moon and Solstice Moon of March 20th, 2015, my hopes are high to finally receive the necessary alignment our planet needs before the creation of the New Earth.

I loved this book and found it exciting because expansion of our minds is required if we are to grow and evolve out of our negativity i.e. fear and hatred. The concepts in Delores Cannon’s books are truly mind and heart expanding and ring true to anyone who is open and inquisitive and seeks truth no matter where they find it.

I found the first book, "The Convoluted Universe" filled with great information. I eagerly consumed the book, and promptly bought the second one in the series. Perhaps I am too critical, or perhaps expecting too much, but I felt that some of the cases cited were faking it. Sometimes it seemed that the author was asking leading questions which means the subject would be prompted to answer in a certain way. I skipped over many pages which were contributing nothing to the message because it seemed contrived. The book improved greatly in the last few chapter however. Better editing would have ensured a better read.

I am a big fan of Dolores Cannon. Yes, the books often seem more of the same, but I continue to find them fascinating. What a great loss that she is no longer with us. Not your typical, Sci-Fi/Reincarnation writer, you cannot help but believe that she has experienced what she writes about and that she was here to help us understand that there is so much more to our universe than mankind is able to understand.

I've been using the HTML Visual QuickStart Guide since 2nd Edition. I skipped the 7th edition because at the time I felt that the technologies added were too playground-ish to use in production for a web site that was not a web app. Also, I'm kind of loyal to Liz Castro and the updates from 6th Edition onward aren't hers and the style is definitely different in ways that felt out of place. What's changed is that as of this point in time, HTML 5 is no longer really a stubborn rejection of W3C's stagnant attempts at standardization. It IS a standard all its own now, with basically universal support in modern browsers, and it degrades properly, which cannot really be said of the now abandoned "future of the web" W3C was pushing for.In short, HTML 5 won, W3C lost, the clunky explanation of the standards war and the push to XMLify the web is gone, and Liz has moved on to focus on the world of digital publishing with her excellent [ASIN:0321734688 EPub Straight to the Point] (which I highly recommend BTW). Bruce Hyslop is now at the helm of this title, and by this edition he's updated enough of the book at this point that it no longer feels like a messy patch…developers, you know what I mean. And Bruce is a highly competent and accomplished author in his own right who knows his material and presents it well. It's still the best book of its type on the market bar none, even if I would truly rate it only 4.75 stars instead of 5 if I could. ;)And what type of book is it? Well, if you're just looking for a few tips on how to use some software to get a page on the web, this isn't your book. If you're looking for a guide to writing web apps, this isn't your book. If you haven't a clue what a web page is or how it works, this probably isn't your book. If you basically understand what a web page is, that it consists of content marked up with tags that have their own meaning irrespective of how they look on the screen, that there's a whole separate language for defining what those tags look like, and you're really just looking for a guide to show you how to use the various tags and markup to accomplish the goals you've set out for yourself… THIS IS YOUR BOOK.It's your book if you intend to become a web developer as a regular thing, and it's your book if you have other duties but find yourself needing to include some web development/publishing amongst them. Its purpose is to get you comfortable with the code—the building blocks that make make up your pages. What you do with them from there is entirely up to you. From there, even if you ultimately decide to use some framework written in PHP, Ruby, or Python, or if you start designing your own framework… you'll have the tools to understand the HTML and CSS portion of it, and just enough of the Javascript to make those work. All of those other technologies… they're other books unto themselves.Ultimately if you want to just do a thing on the web, you can find another way than reading this book. But if you want to understand what you're doing as you do it, this is the book to do it. And it has been for at least 17 years now.

I have been buying Elizabeth Castro's books on HTML ever since she started. This book is a wonderful new edition and a step up from anyone who is familiar with good old HTML4 - but needs to bring their skills up to modern day. Also or for anyone wishing to learn HTML from the bottom up. Elizabeth's books are so clearly laid out with examples, and highlighted text, they are always a pleasure to read, and or utilize as a reference. The book also comes with a free eBook copy and other wonderful online support features. You simply cannot do better than using this book for learning HTML (& CSS). (Works terrific with free Alleycode HTML editor, and or other text editors such as Notepadd++.

I needed this for my most recent semester in college and I'm so glad that I bought it. I love that it provided you a site where you could download the examples in the book and try them out as I read along. If it were not for this book I doubt I would have been able to pass my class with an A+. This book not only provided examples but also step by step instructions so I knew what I was doing and what the code actually did as I built the examples. This is of course the primary board review book for Occupational and Environmental Medicine physicians.I'm a current Occupational and Environmental Medicine resident, and I think the 5th edition is much better than the 4th. The quality of the writing is much better, the content has been updated, and it now has end-of-chapter review questions, which can be helpful for board review. I think it reads much more easily than the old edition as well.I have not finished reading it cover-to-cover yet, but I particularly like some of the more in-depth musculoskeletal topics as compared to the prior edition. The toxicology is quite good too, but of course it isn't comprehensive - but this is expected relative to how much content on that subject there is (i.e. how many toxic chemicals exist).

fantastic book at a great price for all those in industrial hygiene, environmental sciences, or residents of occupational medicine. Would be great for those wanting to improve their knowledge of occupational hazards such as those in Family medicine.

I am a recent occupational medicine residency graduate and studying for the boards. The content of the book seems well organized and up-to-date. However, the biggest problem is that there are numerous typos (generally related to grammar).

We have some aspect of legal nature that are, somehow, different in Brazil, but we have only one good Brazilian reference textbook in Occupational Medicine that, as all traditional textbooks, is too long to be read in the lapse of time you have left to read. Current Occupational & Environmental Medicine, like other books of this series, brings information and even solutions to problems in a very complete, clear to understand and concise manner that other books (specially reference textbooks) usually are not able to do. The series (Current) in a general way of speaking, sometimes go beyond traditional textbooks bringing a practical knowledge hard to obtain reference textbooks. I understand this book is an excellent way of getting into Occupational Medicine.

Nancy Rica Schiff has given us the second in her series about people whose work takes them outside, in some cases way outside, the box. It holds hope for those who can't seem to imagine a way out of the dull routine of normal work. A real asset to those counselling others on the difference between occupation and vocation.

I was so happy to meet Nancy Rica Schiff. I was working as a yo-yo tester at Spintastics for Dale & Val Oliver and she came to interview me. I am on page 60 in the second book Odder Jobs and she was so nice. I loved the interview and the picture she took. It was a great experience and one I will never forget. This is a great book and I think it shows that it's ok to be different. It should be in our school system for kids to read.

I got her first book as a gift and loved it. I bought both Odd Jobs and Odder Jobs as gifts and everyone really enjoyed them.

I love this book, and of course, the first of this book series, Odd Jobs. I love the pictures and the stories. One person in this book is even where I'm from! So cool!

Nancy Rica Schiff is an amazing photographer. She has a brilliant eye for composition and subject, and an uncanny knack for taking the bizarre or mundane and producing something dazzling and thought-provoking.This book is a testament to those who "walk to the beat of a different drum" and have persistently remain nonconformist in a world that is ever-demanding more conformity. The kind of people that there used to be a lot more of, once upon a time.This book is also a testament to Ms. Schiff's virtuosity both as a photographer and an art director. You will not be able to put thus book down once you have picked it up. I have completely fallen in love with every person featured here, and have also fallen in love with Ms. Schiff. She is BRILLIANT. (No, this is not her mother, haha! Just an avid fan and "admirer from afar.")

More than half of this book is dedicated to describing research that shows that males are more confident than females. After reading one example after another, I was left feeling that there was not much hope for females when it came to learning confidence. Only chapters 6-8 cover how females can raise their confidence level (or, in the case of chapter 7, how you can raise a confident daughter), and even then the advice is basically limited to "Be willing to fail. Take action. Feel the fear and do it anyway." If you really want to know how to raise your confidence level and get along in society, reading "The Charisma Myth" might be time better spent.

I bought this book awhile ago, before I retired, because I was in an ill-fitting job, a quiet introvert among a group of extremely confident extroverts, and I was desperate for help. I didn't read it at that time. I wish I had. I have never been good at self-promotion, but in a workplace full of those who are, it's necessary. And this book shows how reasonable and honest self-promotion is a good thing and not a display of arrogance. We think nothing of men pushing themselves forward and touting their accomplishments, but in women it's considered tacky.This book points out how men learn, from childhood on, how to be confident, how to fail without feeling like a failure, while women tend to back away from that. Perhaps it is changing now, but that is definitely how it was when I was growing up. And worse, it was such a part of the social fabric that I never even thought twice about it. Women who talked themselves up were haughty. Humility was more attractive for women. But this left us vulnerable in the workplace, relegated to the back as men naturally push forward, and that is what the boss sees, leaving women's contributions unnoticed or under-noticed. I experienced this myself as, uncomfortable speaking up, I would hear others say what I was silently thinking and they got credit while I appeared mute and empty of ideas. Very foolish on my part. This book helps explain a lot of the thinking behind these types of actions and shows ways to change.Truly, I thought this would be just another flavor of the day business book but I was pleasantly surprised. It is primarily aimed at the work world but contains information useful at any point in life. I'm glad I finally read it.

I would like to see everyone who teaches even one girl, young woman, adult female, etc. read this book. We need, desperately, to change the way women think of themselves. It took nearly 80 years for me to gain the self-confidence that my brothers seem to have inherited along with other genes. We must do better. There is a great deal of evidence to support my contention that our mental capacity is as good as or greater than our male counterparts. This books is a bit fluffy but an absolute must-read for any lady out there. Why do women not negotiate as well as men? Why are (some) women not taken as seriously as men in the workplace? This book mentioned so many things that I used to do myself and I could see how i'm stacking the deck against myself without even knowing it. I read it before a salary negotiation and as a result, I upped my initial asking number (and they gave it to me!). It's a thin book so you'll finish it in an afternoon or two. Also half of it is fluffy and skim-able. Again, if you're a lady, it's an absolute MUST read.

I really enjoyed reading this book - it was like a summary of the many instances of my own crises of confidence through my life, and provided much food for thought. I had forgotten (at nearly 68 years of age) that I used to be so unsure of myself - and yet all the examples they cited of women whom they'd interviewed all sounded horrifyingly familiar. I think those of us who are older, who have stuck it out in our careers, have gradually learned that we must keep taking action, stop over-thinking, and accept being less than perfect, but, it was lovely to see the way they charted those conclusions all laid out so clearly.I am recommending the book to many of my younger women friends and clients. I am also discussing it with the men in my life too - because the men have no idea how deeply pervasive the feelings of inadequacy can be in their very capable and clearly intelligent women.

This book has a lot of interesting science but besides that I found it hard to stay focused when reading it. I basically forced myself to finish it because I hate starting books and not finishing them. I do think that other people may enjoy this book more though considering I tend to enjoy thrillers and self help books the most. I thought this book would be like a self help book but it wasn't quite to my taste.

I have read a lot of female empowerment books and what I loved about this one was how they roped genetics as part of the confidence issue. I thought it was really interesting to see how our DNA influences us-- but also to know that we can surpass our genetic makeup and pave our own path with confidence.

BURNIN' FOR YOU is the third book in Ms. Warren's Montana Fires series and readers will want to read them in order since the sabotage and mystery start there with the damaged parachutes, escalate to include tampered-with drones in book two, and then comes to a fiery end as the villain moves on to planes....I enjoyed getting to know Reuben and Gilly better in this story. Their hopes and buried dreams, their fears and rejections and all that made them who they are. I also enjoyed another burning visit to the northern forests during fire season, an up close and personal look at smoke jumping and all they face.I was a bit confused by somethings, went back and reread and it wasn't clarified, but I can't tell you what because that would ruin the story for you. I'd also love more background on Reuben's father... something about him intrigued me.All in all, this was a great read. Not as long as Ms. Warren's usual stories but long enough to develop the characters, set the scene and draw the reader in. I will be back with a review (in a few weeks) of Ms. Warren's fall 2016 release Wild Montana Skies.I love Ms. Warren's books and BURNIN' FOR YOU was no different. It left me shutting off my kindle with a sigh and wondering what I could read next that would (as if anything could) top this.

Wow! can we say this book is full of suspense and surprises! I like this couple just as much if not more than in the previous 2 books but oh is it a good story. Reuben and Gilly are made for each other but they are each keeping it a secret just to themselves. Again this author has weaved faith into the story and provides it at just the right moment. Both characters have issues in their past that they cannot let go and this colors how they react to each other and others. Can they move forward without letting those issues go? I am not going to do any spoilers but finally we get some closure on an issue from the first book that continues throughout the series. I cannot say enough what a wonderful writer this author is and how she develops the characters. She makes them so likeable and warm that I felt like they were friends and I was invested in their story. I was rooting for them in each of the situations they got into and I really cared about them. To me that is a good sign of a good writer. If I do not like the characters I will not read the book! No problem with that with this author. I also like the storyline around the fire fighters and learning more about fighting forest fires. I recommend this series, once you start reading you will not put it down.

This much anticipated third book in the Montana Fire series left me breathless! When I first started reading, I had two choices. read slow and savor the story, or read as fast as I could to find out WHAT HAPPENS! I ended up with a combination of both. The first portion I read slowly as Warren laid the groundwork for events in this installment of the ongoing firefighting series. Petite smoke bomber pilot Gilly Priest and big guy smokejumper Reuben Marshall have quite a story to tell and tell it they do, exposing all their strengths and weaknesses along the way.From the time Gilly fires up her plane for takeoff, the story really takes off, too, leaving me unable to stop reading until I finished it. I was at times nervous, calm, scared, relaxed, horrified, hyperventilating, charmed, thankful, feeling the love, well, you get the picture. On and on the emotional rollercoaster went, but I couldn't stop reading until the story ended (the middle of the night is not a good time to end up with this big of an adrenaline rush!)Suffice it to say, Warren once again delivers an amazing, heart stopping, romantic story while bringing the goodness and trustworthiness of God to the forefront. Her use of old familiar hymns had me singing along and remembering the truth of their words. Peace for today and bright hope for tomorrow from Great is Thy Faithfulness figures prominently in the story, and rightly so, but at one point I found myself singing, He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock, That shadows a dry, thirsty land, He hideth my life in the depths of His Love and covers me there with His hand.Burnin' for You is an exciting, phenomenal, breathtaking pageturner. I was captivated from the start and didn't want it to end, even when my heart was pounding. This story SIZZLES in more ways than one! Another hit for Susan May Warren to add to her growing lists of five star books!I'm looking forward to the full length novel, Wild Montana Skies in October. Until then, I found a story featuring CJ St. John and Hannah Butcher will be out in September in the Candy Cane Kisses novella collection, "A Christmas story about miracles that happen when the weather outside is frightful". Just when you think the perilous situations these smoke jumpers get in can't get more complicated, they do. Since I've read all 3 book in this series I feel like I actually survived a river rescue, aggressive grizzly attack, skydiving AND plane crashes, not to mention numerous forest fires and arson threats.This story is the one where we *finally* get Reuben and Gilly's story, an attraction that has been hinted in the previous books. They learn a lesson in teamwork and trust when their team's lives depend on their abilities to battle the elements and find help (and all of this while realizing their chemistry and fighting an arsonist.)One important line was delivered by Gilly's sister, and if I may paraphrase, she encouraged Gilly to not letting her fears determine or failures dictate her choices or limit her potential.The arc of a mystery arsonist is finally solved in this one. It was well threaded through the 3 different stories -- I didn't suspect who it was at all!Main theme/lesson: Trusting God to handle your life is the only way to have true peace. And, illustrating how God waits for us to choose Him, seek Him.
