There were so many things that could happen to prevent said trip. So I was calling it the 'iffy trip'. But things didn't go wrong. Somehow everything went right and I got to go. I hadn't been in Oregon since I was in junior high. And I hadn't seen my foster daughter for at least a decade. And who knows, that iffy trip may have me moving up to Oregon very soon! How cool is that?My friend brought this book, The Wee Free Men, narrated by Stephen Briggs. What a great road trip read! My friend and I were enthralled! We were laughing so hard at the late Terry Pratchett's writing for most of the trip north and then most of the trip south. And, yes, the writing is the basis of this experience. But Mr. Briggs's acting skills were truly fantastic. He had all the accents and voices for everyone and kept the story going.Often while listening to this I pictured getting into Mr. Prachett's head while he was writing this story. He must have laughed to himself often with the puns that seem to rolls from his fingers into the pages. Then I wished I could watch Stephen Briggs do his part in front of the mic doing his performance. There had to be quite a few faces for each of the characters that seem to jump out of his mouth.Needless to say, I have this book on my Kindle and Audible wishlists. I want to read it over and over. It is easily as great as Alice in Wonderland or Wizard of Oz. It would be a great family read. SO fun!

This was my first Terry Pratchett book ever, thus my introduction to Discworld. I’ve wanted to read the series, but with 41 books I wasn’t sure I even wanted to attempt it. Wee Free Men is aimed at young adults with the female protagonist just a child (around 9 years old), and is the first book in the Tiffany Aching series, so it was a great place to start.I’ve got to say, this was one of the best books I have read in a long time. The story is completely charming in itself, a young girl meets some little men with red hair, blue tattoos, wearing kilts, about 6 inches tall called Nac Mac Feegle or the Wee Free Men, and together they have to rescue her young brother. The characters are well developed and almost always entertaining and hilarious – for example her younger brother constantly asks for “sweeties”, the Wee Free Men speak in Scottish accents and say things like “Ah, crivens” and are generally good natured despite being thieves. The best part for me, however, were all the surprising references to other books and pop culture which I did not expect but always put a smile on my face. For example, Pratchett parodies Lord of the Rings with “See their swords? They glow blue in the presence of lawyers” and Braveheart with “They can tak’ oour lives but they canna tak’ our troousers!” There’s possibly even a Bushism from the early 2000s (this book was published in 2003, so would make sense).The book was a very easy, very entertaining read. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the Tiffany Aching miniseries as well as perhaps starting in on the rest of the larger Discworld universe.

Tiffany and the Wee Free Men invade ‘Fairyland’ and manage to return with her brother, a feat that Granny Weatherwax finds impressive for someone so young and untrained."The Wee Free Men" features Tiffany as the only point-of-view character, save from a narrator, which keeps the book fairly orderly when reading as well as being in line for a book for younger readers. The story itself is somewhat familiar for long time Discworld fans with the antagonist being the Queen of the Elves invading, but Pratchett changes things up with the use of dreams and the conflict as seen from a nine-year old. Daughter likes this but reaches for green eggs and ham and what pet should I get several times a day.

My wife purchased this book for our Kindergartener after she (my daughter) had requested it. She had seen it in her school library and was very excited to show us how funny the idea of "hopping on pop" (on me!!) was and that she could read some of the words. After we got it, she found that she was able to read the whole thing all the way through. She was so surprised and proud of herself! If you want to build confidence in your child and develop a love for reading-this is a great book.The reason this is so great for an early reader is pretty genius! The book starts off easy enough, with a couple of rhyming phrases per page (like; HOP ON POP, etc.). As the story moves on, the rhyming words are replaced (sometimes only by changing out a letter-as in H-A-T to C-A-T).While a simple idea, it provides a great learning and reinforcement tool for your child that is twofold: (1) your child learns new words by "building" on a previously known word by having to change the initial sound to match the new letter on the rhyming word, and (2) by showing them the importance of letters and their placement in a word to change its sound.The book is never overly difficult, but rather, perfectly paced for an emerging or first time reader. And of course, true to Dr. Seuss fashion, the artwork is engaging, wonderful and funny all at the same time. This is by far, my daughter's favorite book at the moment and she won't hesitate to offer to "read the whole book" to anyone who is willing to listen! She is developing a real love of reading from this.If you are a "pop" or know of one with a new reader, this classic is just the ticket! Definitely a winner for our family.

I loved reading this book when I was young and was excited to introduce it to my child who is in the first stages of reading. My 4 year old can't read every word yet, only 3/4 letter words, but those can be found on almost every page so it keeps his mind going. It's also great that some of the sight words he'll need for kindergarten are incorporated so he'll have a head start for class in a couple of years. If you're looking for a story line, there isn't one, but I can say the wackiness is very entertaining. I read other reviews that have said that this version is a rewrite, however I didn't notice the differences. Maybe it's just been that long since I've read it. (Although I totally understand the frustrations of those who we're expecting original content.)

When I was a little girl, I use to beg my mom to read me this book. She did over and over again and it became the first book I learned to read as a pre-schooler. I read it to my children and they loved it just as much. This is a wonderful book to teach some reading skills. The illustrations keep children interested and the simple words and phonetics are perfect for young children who are pre readers or just learning to read.

I have a working theory that this book teaches kids to read. I know, it’s a bold statement. It really does help them gain confidence, and if you play the audiobook with it you don’t get tired of reading it. There are several C-V-C words so even very early readers can sound out some! I love this book!

This was my childrens' and grandchild's favorite book. But don't get the Kindle version. It places 2 pictures on one page and messes up the real reading experience. The book has a natural flow for better reading.

This is such a great product for the price. Hop on Pop is, of course, a classic. My two-year-old loves it, and it's made well enough that she isn't able to destroy it :)

Secondly, prevent a lice infestation. There are some ways to do: keep boys hair short. keep girl's hair tied up tight. control lice infestation by discovering nits early, and so on. Finally, i like to this book very much.

i recommend this book to everyone, after reading this book, i know lice are parasitic insects that can be found on people's heads and bodies, including the pubic area. Human lice survive by feeding on human blood. Lice found on each area of the body are different form each other. And there are three types of lice that live on human which are head louse, body louse and pubic louse. Also this book shows how to treat and get rid of head lice in our home. Great book!!!

What I found most helpful however was the section that helps show which conditioner is right for me. I have a lot of conditioners in my bathroom that just make my hair poof up and make my hair terrible and I’m planning on using these tips in the near future.

I've always enjoyed receiving letters (not bills) and the tactile feeling of opening the letters in this book brings back the memories of letters past from my own dynamic mother. The simple letters contained in this book are concise and written with heartfelt wisdom summoning one's soul to reflect, and spirit to lift when...life hurts. The book has the resonance of receiving a letter from a wise and loving parent. I would highly suggest this book for anyone who needs a quick little boost. Thank you Karen for yet another uplifting book! LOVE IT! :)

I was EXTREMELY PLEASED with this unique and wonderful selection of letters already in specially marked envelopes, for use in lifting someone’s spirit in different types of situations. Highly recommend, and those I’ve given them to, to open when they’re feeling a certain way, can be opened for a very thoughtful and caring gift for those you can’t always be with. They’ve been a huge hit, and I’ll likeky order again.

Bought it for a friend but kept it because it's so good to refer back to. My advice: buy more than one! You'll want to share it, but you'll want to keep one for yourself!!

We love Elmo but this book is a lengthy one that has a hundred steps before he gets in bed. He goes potty, needs more water, gets out of bed repeatedly, goes to the potty again, and I don't want to teach my kiddo that. I know it's supposed to be silly, but our kid is in the mimicking stage and I'm not on board with an hour long delay for bed time. No thanks, Elmo. Also this kind of book has a cheaper feel than a normal hardcover.

I am disappointed that rather than encouraging Elmo to go to bed, this book just rambles on about ways that Elmo is delaying bedtime. I don't need to give my toddler any new ideas in that department!

This book... My son LOVES this book! He just turned 2 and can count all the sheep at the end. We read a story every night before bed and he requests this book the most. He loves pointing out the things Elmo is talking about. I with there were more books like this one! The story is cute and silly. I am SOOO happy I bought this book. If you read to your baby get this book!

Though Elmo is a sweet adorable monster this book will put scarey bedtime ideas into a child's head. If they don't already have any. I wouldn't order it if I were you.

I use Sesame Street books to teach my child things like tooth brushing and potty training, but I was disappointed by this book. It taught her to delay bedtime by asking for a snack, drink of water, etc. I read it to her once, then hid it.

My granddaughter (20 months) is in love with Elmo so she likes looking at anything that has Elmo in it. I wish the story was more interesting.

This book is SO cute, my son loves it! It's the larger sized book (about 8 1/2 x 11) it's always hard to know because they never tell you in the description. Fabulous poem about going to sleep, lovely graphics and sweet as can be. My only wish was that it was a board book because I'm always afraid the pages are going to get ripped. Either way, don't hesitate this is one of Elmo's best!!!! P.S. I thought when it said (Glitter Picturebook) that the pages would be sparkly - they are not, I have no idea what Glitter Picturebook means but in case you were wondering:)

Purchased for my friends son's 1st birthday. He loves Elmo and now this is his favorite book. They read it every night before bed.
